The Monster Hunter Wilds on Nintendo Switch 2 will hit the shelves on December 4, 2026. The game by Capcom is an exciting big hunter action RPG which shall be played on the new generation machine of Nintendo. The word about this new installment was told through the Nintendo Direct program back in September. Monster Hunter Wilds was initially launched on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC in February 2025. In this adventure you as the hunter, go to find the Forbidden Lands an environment where dynamic weather changes as well as other elements that influence terrain and monster movements.

Capcom isn't just porting the original launch version of the game to the new Nintendo platform Switch 2, but is also including the entire game with all the free upgrades, so that hunters on the Switch 2 platform can play the game with the post launch content like the Grand Hub and the likes of Mizutsune and Lagiacrus monsters that came out later after the game was first released. Capcom has also enabled this game with cross play so hunters on Switch 2 can hunt alongside all other hunters that are in the Monster Hunter Wilds game universe that have supported platforms besides the Switch 2.
The next most exciting advancement that Switch 2 offers is a feature permitting players to play wirelessly with others. Nintendo revealed that Switch 2 will support a four player local wireless multiplayer mode. They also mentioned that it will support an Internet multiplayer for up to four hunters. It brings back the idea of Monster Hunter for portable gameplay, that's similar to previous Monster Hunter handheld titles, so that users of Switch 2 can band together as a hunting group without having to rely totally on online matchmaking. If you're a new player, this is what the basic gameplay will consist of chasing monsters, crafting better equipment with the help of the materials that you've, mastering the 14 different weapons that are present in the game and applying special features like Focus Mode to target the creature's weak spots.
Besides that, the December version shouldn't be the final version of Monster Hunter Wilds on Switch 2. Capcom has confirmed that the massive expansion pack, Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance, is going to be available for the hardware console in 2027 right after the game expansion pack release. The release will include the original game, all the free content that came via the game updates, cross platform play, and the ability to hunt locally over wireless, so Monster Hunter Wilds becomes the next big third party project joining Nintendo's Switch 2 lineup of games. The debut represents a get together to the one of Japanese gaming most prosperous companies and Nintendo's handheld gaming multiplayer which turned Monster Hunter into a hit, for both Capcom and Nintendo.
