Nintendo Sets Two September Directs as Zelda and Switch 2 Take Center Stage

Nintendo is holding back-to-back September Direct presentations, beginning with The Legend of Zelda's 40th anniversary celebration and followed by a 45-minute showcase focused on upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 games.

Nintendo Sets Two September Directs as Zelda and Switch 2 Take Center Stage

For September, apart from having the last month for major gaming events of the year, the gaming giant also prepares two special Nintendo Direct streams which will be aired consecutively. The first one is going to be a tribute to an iconic game, The Legend of Zelda, while being a preview of Nintendo Switch 2 games for the coming winter season. On September 8, Nintendo Direct: The Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary, the company is going to take about 1 hour to unveil the latest developments of the game series and other games, followed by another Nintendo Direct event that's scheduled for 7:00 a.m. PT / 10:00 a.m. ET on September 9 lasting 1 hour and 15 minutes. With the last update, the company has stated that apart from some new games and titles to be released for the Switch 2, the latter event will be in particular focused on games for the winter 2017 release.

The big 40th anniversary celebration of The Legend of Zelda happened on September 8. One of the star items of the show was the Nintendo Switch 2 version of the game which the developers promised would look better than its Nintendo 64 counterpart. The company also revealed on the occasion that the Nintendo Switch 2 version which will exclusively house the game will hit the shelves in November precisely on November 5, 2026. About the features, the remake would come with free camera movement feature, the Threads of Time tool which can be used for navigational assistance and even the possibility of humming the ocarina tunes. In addition, the protagonist Link would have a new trick under his sleeve as he can perform jumps with the help of the manual mode now. Interestingly, the announcement session also provided us with the title to the upcoming live action movie of The Legend of Zelda. It will be available to the movie lovers on April 30 2027 it's said.
