Gran Turismo 7 Spec IV Announced With New Cars, Circuits and Family Mode

Polyphony Digital is working on arguably one of the biggest expansions they've done for Gran Turismo 7. It's called Spec IV. It's a free major update that's being announced at the right time, when the Gran Turismo franchise's 30 th anniversary in 2027 is getting closer. During Sony Interactive Entertainment's State of Play event in September, Spec IV was revealed. The two updates that make up the whole of Spec IV are due to the huge number of elements that are included in the new content. The first part of the release is scheduled for October 2026 while the second one for December. This way, not only will the players on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 have access to Gran Turismo simulator longer, but it also means that they'll continue to get new vehicles circuits modes, and features.

Gran Turismo 7 Spec IV will expand the racing game across two free updates arriving in October and December 2026.

October will be the month when Gran Turismo 7 Spec IV delivers Sportsland SUGO as a new technical Japanese circuit known for elevation changes alongside six new cars. Polyphony Digital is also planning a new Spec IV opening cinematic and a Vintage section for cars no longer available for purchase as new. It's also introducing Car Concierge to make ordering of Used and Legend vehicles, brand specific Experience challenges, and even a Car Viewer, all of which will be included in the December update. Longtime Gran Turismo fans will be very pleased since the Collector Level limit will be raised allowing them more opportunities to level up.

December will add another six car models as well as a return of Autum Ring, a familiar track from earlier Gran Turismo games. This time it will be not only a familiar layout but also a much more extensive one. Polyphony Digital is planning, in particular, Family Mode that will make Gran Turismo 7 more suitable for players aged between and of various skill levels. Among the other things in the December update, Shuffle Race, Offline Drift Trial and the next major update of Gran Turismo Sophy allowing to add both casual and competitive race options from PlayStation racing franchise, will be highlighted.
