Diablo V announcement teaser revealed by Blizzard Entertainment at BlizzCon 2026
Diablo V begins a new era for Blizzard's action-RPG franchise in Spring 2029, with Sanctuary fallen and Diablo victorious.

This new world won't be the first change of course for a video game series that has mostly heroized demonic invasions as the main plotline of its story, so to speak. In other words, Diablo V isn't about the failure of the battle in the past but about the present, after it has already happened, leaving players to discover remnants of humanity and all that human civilization has left to offer under Lord of Terror's complete triumph at the hands of the Demon Diablo. The game will focus on the question that every hero must ask himself/her/himself when a hero isn't even a choice for a world that has collapsed, meaning that Diablo V might be a very desperate version of the franchise's familiar dark fantasy worlds. Gameplay and characters weren't shown at all which though, serves as another way of creating a dark atmosphere which the creators think should be characteristic for the upcoming generation of Diablo games.

Blizzard is showing off details about their upcoming sequel, "Diablo V," at BlizzCon 2026. The company will have a dedicated presentation titled "Forging the Next Era" on September 12, starting at 1:45 p.m. PT. This event promises to give players an early look at the game’s world, classes, and overall creative vision.

The initial announcement made no mention of combat systems, character progression, multiplayer features, endgame content, or other technology specifics. So it remains unclear what these elements might be like when revealed later. Reports suggest that PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and some other platform are target platforms. However, Blizzard’s first announcement focused more on the Spring 2029 release window and the "Fallen Sanctuary" premise.
