Gorr the God Butcher Joins Marvel Rivals on September 11

Gorr the God Butcher will first appear and play an important role in Marvel Rivals starting September 11, 2026. It was revealed that with his arrival will also follow the Season 10: Butcher' Blasphemy release. And, Gorr the God Butcher's appearance is yet another deadly cosmic villain to be added in the Marvel universe that will be playable on the game. Based on NetEase Games' developers, Marvel Rivals hero shooter's Season 10 will be focusing on Gorr and will continue the story line introduced in Season 9. He wants to take his revenge campaign against the gods to Yggsgard. Being one of the Marvel Rivals' main characters as he joins the ranks through a game mode named Duelist, Marvel Rivals will gain an additional villain role to their team of characters.

Gorr the God Butcher leads Marvel Rivals Season 10: Butcher's Blasphemy when the new season launches September 11.

One of the elements that defines Gorr's power is his weapon, the Necrosword. This is actually All Black and it's a very unusual weapon since it not only has all the strength of a normal sword but it also has a symbiote aspect which gives it life like other super powers in the Marvel Universe. Gorr not only uses the sword to strike but also the abilities of the symbiote to create an army of Black Berserkers which could be used to kill the opponent. Gorr will be very aggressive and unpredictable in his style of combat. His attack can come from many different angles even when the opponent doesn't expect it. Through this gameplay the player can harness the power of the Necrosword. This seems perfect for a Duelist role because Gorr can really get moving, can eliminate enemies quickly, which can decide the whole battle for his team. So if you want a fun character who can help carry you, then Gorr might be the one for you.

With Gorr's arrival, it also opens up a lot of story potential for Marvel Rivals which would make a great follow up to the Thebes Chapter. The plot moves to Yggsgard and describes how Gorr wants to kill the gods in Chronoverse. To do that, Gorr plans two things: bringing the Faith Harvesting Engine in the God Quarry and stealing the God Tempest, the energy that powers Thor's hammer. By getting a piece of the Godbomb from each god, this story also connects Thor and Loki (among others) with this Season and gives the opportunity for NetEase to really expand Marvel Rivals into the cosmic Marvel universe.

The Sept. 11 patch notes unveil the latest huge Marvel Rivals content update with Gorr being the featured playable character of Season 10. NetEase has rolled out his arrival with the hero balance changes, season events cosmetics other competitive elements, etc. So, the launch of Butcher's Blasphemy really isn't just giving out a new character. Marriage of Gorr with the Marvel comic series, the symbiote lore, All Black the Necrosword, and age old hatred of gods have opened up many ways for the developers to get heroes from Marvel Rivals into action with each other and to the public. The God Butcher's debut on Sept 11 puts the aggressive Duelist fighting style character in reach for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S platforms.
